Hi -I have a bunch of young chickens from MM-they are about 3 months or 12 weeks old. I thought I had 7 SS hamburgs-but I have in fact 5 of them (3 roos and 2 pullets) and 2 other ones who look marked like SSH, but have fuller bodies and yellow feet/legs. Any ideas? They are white and black-with the feathers looking white, but penciled black around the edges. Beautiful young things-sort of reddish in the face around the eyes...(What's black and white and red all over?-haha-couldn't resist! Im getting punchy-too tired/excited getting ready for vacation.)

OK-maybe I can reply to my own post...does anyone have silver laced wyandottes? Do you have any photos? I think maybe mine are these possible-even though its black laced-not silver.

Yes! That's them! thank you so much! Your's are pullets, right? Mine don't have much comb at all-compared with the SSH roos-who have definite red rosecombs now. These are nice looking birds though-I love the lacing on them!

Yes, they're pullets. I have three, now a year-and-a-half old. Great girls. One has a single comb, a flaw now common in hatchery birds of this breed. She's quite an explorer and I'm always trying to find Lorelei, but she lays extra large eggs, the largest of all three Wyandotte sisters, so she's forgiven.

Speckledhen......i am glad you added that about the single comb. I have two SLW's and they are 11 weeks now. They both have different combs and it made me think one must be a ROO. Other than that the only other reason was that one is my dominate hen and 'she' puts the fear in my unplanned rooster. He was getting to be a bully and this SLW put him in his place. Do you have a roo pic too for comparison? If i have one roo i would try to keep him, but two would make me have to choose and i dont want to do that.

No, sorry, I don't have any SLW roosters. And when I bought my Barred Rock rooster, Hawkeye, after the month-long quarantine period, on the day he met my Girls, he was attacked by two of the SLW's. He promptly put them in their places, but they were the only ones that dared to jump a rooster larger than they were. One of them, Lacy, can be quite a bully around a feed pan, too. She is sweet with people, but she does push her weight around. They have the sweetest little girl voices and will talk, talk, talk to me. I call Lacy my "YES GIRL" because she always says," uh, HUH!"

This SLW i speak.....when i put a pan of treats out she wont let roo near it, but she is fine with all the girls. You have really made my day by mentioning the single comb difference. It really put my mind at ease. Now if you could go read my earlier post about the eggs and help me with that one, i will be able to sleep tonight

Speckled Hen, What is the difference between Silver Laced and Silver Penciled Wyandotte's??? And can the comb difference be the same for Silver Spangled Hamburgs?
