Hi! If anyone could help me on this it would be great. I just got my first seven chickens early this month. The gal I got them from told me she would give me a couple different types of layers. So I asked her to write down what types they are. She wrote "7 chickens, mostly Buff Orphington w/ Cochin and Partridge Rock Mix?". So I am having a hard time figuring out which ones are which. (sorry I am new at this...) I have 3 all yellow layers which are a little bigger and 2 all black and 2 black with yellow heads and necks. They all are last years hatch and lay light brown eggs. One of the black ones has feathers on it's feet and she said it was a 'setter'? I think the yellow ones may be Cochin because they have cute poofy butts. But I don't know otherwise. If anyone is familiar with these I would love to know so I can say I am the proud mother of.......

Well, if she was correct about the breeds involved, the featherfooted one would have Cochin in it. A "setter" just means it will go broody and want to raise chicks. If you post pics, we can probably tell you with a degree of certainty which one is which.
