Hello!
I have a small flock of 5 hens around 17 weeks old and I am looking to add a rooster. My sister bought chicks a month or so after me and says she has roosters in her flock. She has no clue what she has-- does not know breeds or genders, and she didn't mark down when she bought them so no clue on the age of them either, other than they are probably 4-6 weeks give or take younger than my flock. (She says she let her kids pick out the birds-- I learned my lesson on not researching what certain terminology means-- my first flock I bought "straight run egg layers" Egg layers? Must all be hens, right? Ha! They all turned out to be roosters. I've since learned a lot.)
Anyway, this is the chicken she says is a rooster, and I agree, looks like a rooster. But, what about the breed? She has another one that looks similar, but the comb isn't as big so I don't know that it is a rooster.
Thoughts?
