We recently acquired this chicken from someone who doesn’t know what breed she is. They *think* she is around 4-5 months old and she is very friendly! Does anyone have any insight?

She doesn't quite have the body type of an Australorp. I'm not sure what else she could be, though. Do you know if she came from a hatchery? If she didn't, she's probably a mix. Cute, though.

And I would guess she's closer to 4 months with how small her comb is, so maybe she'll fill out a bit.

We aren’t really sure where she came from. She might have come from a hatchery… or not. Our friend owns a chicken farm, and his roommate got chicks from a hatchery about 5 months ago. They think this girl is from that batch of chicks… But they say it’s also possible she came from a neighbor because she sort of just showed up in the garage one day and wanted to hang out, and didn’t leave their side. 😂 I guess it’s hard to keep track when you have 600+ chickens on your property and all your surrounding neighbors have chickens too.

The chickens we have at home that are supposedly the same age (buff Orpingtons) are already quite a bit larger with bright red combs. But this little sweetie is sort of a mystery! Which is part of her charm and why my 10 year old wanted to keep her.

My austrolorps have all started very similar. They get the shape around the time they started laying.
