Lice.I was inspecting my birds. Found these when my Easter eggers lost their beards. Surprise. Please help me I.D. the bug So I can treat them asap.
I agree lice. I would also treat with permethrin. You can use poultry dust but I would use the spray. You can get the concentrate you mix with water or get the premixed. Spray weekly for 3 or 4 weeks as it does not kill the lice eggs so repeated weekly treatments are needed. I do put the poultry dust in the nest boxes. Good luck...
Have you done egg withdrawal after those treatments? Or eaten the eggsIf you want to bathe your birds, every over-the-counter (OTC) treatment for head lice contains either pyrethrins (Rid or Triple X) or permethrin (Nix). They are effective treatment. They only kill live pests, not the pests eggs. Again, good luck...
