I am trying to identify an incubator a friend has. All I know is it is wooden and he paid $600 for it at a feed store. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

pictures would certainly help! Also there is a thread about redwood incubators here on BYC if you do a search for them

I don't have a picture of it. It is in another State. He had a heart attack and is in the hospital, but had ordered hatching eggs before this happened. His wife has no idea how to incubate eggs and I am trying to help her get it set up.

If he had hatched in it before it is probably set up and ready to go. Turn it on and let it run for several hours. Temperature should stabilize around 99.5 degrees. Put the eggs in, fill the water pan and turn on the turner. Eighteen days later turn off the turner, raise the humidity a bit, and wait three days for the chicks to hatch. Easy as pie, just takes a little longer,
You stated it is made of wood. Plywood, or redwood? I'm thinking $600 would be too much for a redwood unless it is a showpiece, so it is most likely a Sportsman. These links will get you Sportsman instructions which might be helpful.

If it turns out that it is a redwood incubator PM me with a email address and I will send you the instructions that I have on file for Leahy and Farm Master redwood incubators

Thanks. I told the wife to turn it on and send me the temp and humidity info after 24 hours. They live in Louisiana, so too much humidity is a possibility. I still don't know what type of incubator it is, but if it cost $600, there are only a few models in that range and they should be easy to operate. Thanks for the help.
