Hello, my 2 week old buff duckling has a bacteria or fungus on her webbing. It has “eaten” her skin. We have been applying an antibacterial spray recommended at Pet Supermarket.
My concern is: now that the spread has apparently stopped, will her webbing grow back?
And… if anyone knows what the bacteria or fungus is, I would really like to know in case it’s transmissible to humans.
Thank you, Allegra

It looks more like ammonia burns but I'm not an expert. If her bedding isn't changed often enough, the feces build up to ammonia and the webbing gets eaten away. I don't think the webbing grows back but it shouldn't hurt you any.
Ammonia burns were my thought too.

What kind of brooder set up do you have and how often have you been cleaning it?

For bedding we were using old towels, but now paper towels. We live in Weston Fl so we almost don’t need heat lamps, although we do have one. During the day, we let her explore around the garden and lake. I’m giving details so you guys know what type of floor/dirt she is in contact with.
It was not a bleach burn, it started as a small tiny cut that she had from walking near our lake. And as days went by, that cut turned brown/grey and spread up.
I thought it could be staph, but I lack knowledge.
I’ll also try to find a vet that will see her (3 have already rejected Buffy).
Thank you and I’ll keep updating

Poor Buffy. Sorry you're dealing with this.
I don't know whether it's staph or something else, but I have seen ammonia damage similar to this. Also it's on both feet, not on just the one that got cut. I hope you can find a vet for her soon! It really does need to be addressed.
Hopefully someone else will chime in who might have more suggestions for you.
