i was told at purchase as daybold chicks, that the Red was a red sexlink and the others Ameraucana... them was told Prductuon Red and EE... what traits identify these?
The first rooster is an easter egger or barnyard mix. I have one that looks similar. Next to the rooster looks like a road island red hen. Not sure on the others
The red hen(s) are production reds. other names for them are Brown Stars, Red Sex Link, Brown Star etc. The Rooster looks to be the production red rooster, as they are a different color from the hens. The greyish hen is probably an EE. Ive been studying breeds for a long time and thats the info I can give you.
Production Reds are a different breed than the Sexlink breeds. They are a hybrid layer designed for laying like the Sexlinks yes. But are not sexable at hatch like the Sexlinked breeds are. Production Red tend to lay consistently longer than the Sexlinked breeds as well and are typically larger when matured.
