You have to load them onto photobucket or some equivalent (I think BYC has a photo uploader, but I have never used it) then use the img code and link.
that is a weird one.....I dont think that it is a king snake. I have plenty of them around here. King Snakes have white belly's.....did it whip its tail when it was mad? Like a whipping sound? If so I have always know them as a whip snake or more known as a chicken snake around here. Not a good snake to have around.....they will eat your biddies and eggs...
PRC - If he were more yellow and had the stripes, that would be him. Can rat snakes be striped? They were a thought too, but the patterns on the king snakes seemed to fit better. I know they both get pretty big!
Maybe he is a cross between a rat and a king like luvmychicknkids suggested ... a king rat snake
Country Preacher - he does not seem to quite fit any mould, lol. I do not recall him lashing his tail and I do not think he looked like a chicken (or coachwhip) snake. When he saw the stick coming he coiled up like a rattler (he has NO rattle, he is not a rattler) and struck out and bit the stick several times. I looked closely at his tail though looking for rattle (even though he is the wrong color ... you just never know) and am pretty sure he did not whip and he was DEFINITELY mad, lol.
When I found him he was right up against the chicken pen (on the outside). I hope he did not have evil intentions toward my chickens with so many rats to eat!
FYI Here is an excellent site to ID most any critter and it will tell ya what is in yer area.
Now I am far from a snake person but have been told by those in the know that one rule of thumb is. Red to yellow can kill a fellow, red to black a friend of Jack. This of course is for red yellow and black stripped snakes. My theroy since I don't know, there aint no safe snake so kill em all.
ETA OOOp's silly me I fergot to put the name of the site. It is enature.com
