Hey guys, I've been lurking around for awhile just reading but figured I'd finally join. :)

I have 6 chickens at the moment - two Black Australorp hens, one Gold Laced Wyandotte hen, one Partridge Rock hen, one unknown tiny hen, and an unknown rooster.

The tiny hen and the rooster came from the same lady who had a mixed pen which included several polish roosters, a silky and EEs.

Here is the tiny hen as a chick:

She had very green legs and you could see the black and white coming through.

Here she is all grown up:

Her legs are now a greyish/pinkish color. She lays very small light brown eggs. She has a clean face and clean legs. She has a very small single comb.

Here is the rooster as a chick (he is in the upper right corner, hen above is in the lower left):

Around 6 or 7 weeks old, he started growing a crest. You can see the red/brown color at the tips of his feathers. He still had green legs.

Here he is today:

His legs are not green any more - more of a greyish color. No pink like the tiny hen. He has clean legs and no feathering on his head aside from the partial crest. He has a completely different comb - walnut maybe? Based on his color growing up, I was not expecting him to turn out like this at all.

What color would you call the hen? What color would you call the rooster?

Thank you!

Not an expert on colors, but the hen looks somewhere between laced and mottled, sort of like a silver grey duckwing/partridge with barring mixed in, and the rooster looks a bit like a crow-wing black and wheaten. I may be completely wrong though. :p

Best wishes.

They just mixed breed chicken without a definite plumage pattern. The male looks birchen and the female looks like birchen with barring.
