HELP IF NOT BETTER TOMAROW DAD WILL SHOOT!!!

I would be more than happy to talk to your dad on the phone. PM me
if he approves and I will give you my phone number.

We've personally experienced both this and having to cull birds to prevent
suffering. She doesn't sound like she is suffering.

Tell your dad that she is not suffering, she was very frightened and a little bit injured, and she needs some time to get better.

There are alot of experts here who said she will be ok if your dad will give her time.

Check her head and make sure it's still clean and not getting infected. Then let her be quiet.

A dog attacked my duck and I really thought it was going to die but within a few days it was lots better and now a few weeks later I can't even tell anymore. I know it was a duck and not a chicken but I kept him quiet and in a darker place for a few days and it perked up and wanted back with it's friends. I was going to have my father kill it for me the next morning if I thought it was really suffering but by the next morning it was eating and drinking normal.

Here's hoping your hen is better soon, Ashalymarie. We're keeping our fingers crossed!!

Thank you all so much! She is my baby and I hope she will get better too I hate to see her like this. Go figure our 8 pound toy poodle gets in a grumpy mood after all these years and my 120 pound german shepherd is so gentle with them. Hopefully she lives up to her name Indiana's Miracle (Indy) after he incident as a chick where she sliced her tummy open:( she lives through that so hopefully...

My mini dachsund attacked one of my chickens and hurt her. I kept her isolated and cleaned the wounds and put triple antibiotic on the wounds. She was isolated until the wounds healed and she is doing GREAT! Tell your dad it takes time and have him read these posts! Tell him I said a good man would listen to others and have a heart. She can heal, chickens are very resilient. My hubby was amazed at how the chicken who was injured came around! He has faith in me and knows this site helps me with my chickens. We would not want your chicken to suffer either, and there are a LOT of experts here. So DAD, give it a chance, PLEASE! Your daughter could be getting into trouble or other bad things, let her take care of chickens and give her something to keep her out of trouble. I have 6 kids, believe me!

We once had a Naked Neck hen get ALL of the skin ripped off of her neck and since it was cold out and no danger of flies laying eggs we decided to take a wait and see attitude. Kept her wound dirt free and she grew new skin and if she had a scar I couldn't see it. Darndest thing I've ever seen. Ended up to be the mom to some of my show stock too. Being a prey animal they have a very high tolerence to pain but do get shocky easily. Those birds are tough and barring any internal damage she should be fine. Some electrolites in her water will help her to pull through better. You can usually get them at your feed store.

If she is eating and drinking , even a little that is a great sign. My GLW Hannah was mauled by our then, Lhasa Apso...he skin was peeled back, exposed flesh, she could not stand and had to be hand fed and wounds cleaned. It took time with isolation and lots of TLC,,,,she fully recovered and is now 7 years old!
They are resilient for sure!
Good Luck..I hope we have a happy report for Indy!
