Help! I'm looking for a dog breed that....

We had one that was afraid of going down the stairs. Not an issue at our house, but once at a vacation house she kept following people upstairs an then expecting to be carried back down :gig
We don't have excessive amounts of stairs in our house, but I'm not sure how much of a problem it would be? All of the exits have stairs leading to/from them either inside or outside, and then there's the staircases that are inside our home (just one central one that connects the three floors (basement, main level, upstairs) (not three whole stories above the main floor lol)

Aside from Po's weird thing about stairs (which she eventually got over) I don't recall them being a problem. They certainly are capable of using stairs.

As much as that appeals to me, we're just not in the spot to deal with the unknowns and what ifs and problems that come with a shelter dog.
Exactly! when we got Hannah, we didnt know she used to be a street dog, possibly had abusive owners, and ate anything that smells a bit like food. Like, u could go to shelter and pick out a seemingly playful dog that could be a promising guard, and a week later you find out it could be possible that dog couldve mauled a few people

Ok, I had read that they were bad for their backs because of their stubby legs
They cannot navigate stairs as *ahem* elegantly as taller dogs but I don't think you need to rule them out just because they have stairs. The house I grew up in (with corgis) had a short staircase to get in and out of the house as well as a basement. Didn't keep our corgis from doing well.
