from New Mexico!

Keeping poultry becomes an addiction and you will always want more! So build as big as you can afford so you can keep MORE birds!

Hey there! Welcome to the wonderfull world of chicken farming! Just a tip, start off with Red Sex Link if you can! They are the most laid back (or should I say "layed" back!) of chickens. They have the best egg production, and attitudes. And don't worry! I raise chickens just for a hobby! And I find eggs as a bonus too! So you're not crazy!

from Yakima, WA!! You don't sound lost or confused! You sound like you're thinking things through and getting a great set up! Pictures of your chicken coop is a must! hehe The only part you need help with is the "chickenless" bit. Boy, can we help you out with that!! We are the best enablers haha! Pretty soon your six chickens will be 24...Chicken math at it's best!

I would like the one that limited the crowing to morning and evening. But I suppose there is no guarantee with roosters. I don't think I can handle a hell raiser all day when I am at home. I guess you get use to it. Thanks 4H Chicken Mom

Thanks to all of you. Hopechick says Red Sex Link should be considered. Too many choices and too little knowledge for me. But thanks Hopechick I will for sure give them some consideration. And "Chicken Math" I think I am learning that pretty quick. Lets see I want six........so order three RIR, order three Buff Orpingtons, and three Red Sex Links.....OH and don't forget the three Barred Rocks. You guys are great. Do any of you live in your coop and keep the chickens in the house? Seems chicken math would do that.. lol

Hi! I'm new here too! Good for you on your new construction of a coop! Our coop is like a mansion! Our chickens have it so good! And they deserve it! And no I don't think you need a doctor! Chickens are fun and quite addicting to own and raise! I love your picture of the little one holding the chick! That is TOO CUTE! Welcome!!
