Help!!! Immediate loss of feathers and death

Sorry for your loss. Welcome to BYC. It could that she was attacked. Was there any sign of molting? Did you examine her body for marks or bleeding? Hawks, dogs, raccoons, or even one of the other chickens could be suspect. We also have foxes and bobcats here, but those would take the body away. If you want to get a diagnosis if she was sick, your state vet could perform a necropsy. But keep the body cold in a cooler, but not frozen. Here is a list of state vets:

Hi guys, this morning I found my favorite chicken laying dead by our basketball hoop in our back yard. She was a well fed, healthy chicken who had no injuries at all. When we found her a lot of her feathers were scattered around and I don’t know what made her die.
I had a chicken died that way from fox attack. The fox took my other hen, but left her body laying there. I believe that the fox killed her by shaking her but left no wound on her. I have another hen survived with fox tooth holes under her wing. Other than fox, many animals could do the similar damages too.

She wasn’t molting, I can tell you that. It’s weird because she was healthy.
