Earlier this week our lady amherst pheasant hatched a clutch of eggs by herself. When she originally started brooding I wasn't really sure if I should take her out to move her or if this would cause her to abandon the eggs. The day I was going to move her the eggs hatched and 3 chicks were killed by our peacocks leaving one baby. I gathered her and her baby and moved them inside to a crate for a day. I then moved both of them to a larger enclosure in which she tried to tear my arm off. I got her settled in and she is a very dotting mother protecting her little baby and telling me how she takes great offense when I put my hand in her enclosure. She has gotten used to me, for the most part, reaching in to refill her food and water but nothing else. My big question is would I be able to give her "replacement" babies? I have a few other pheasant babies I hatched myself the oldest no older than 2 weeks. I had one hatch today and two in the process of hatching. I was thinking of trying to put them under her when it is dark but I'm not sure if she will accept the baby or freak even at night if I attempt this. I am also afraid she may kill them and since I have hatched so few I'm not sure if it is worth it... I don't want the baby to be all by its lonesome and would like to add 2 more. Has anyone ever had this situation? I have never met someone who had a pheasant go broody let alone hatch babies..... Help would be greatly appreiciated!! Also forgot to mention she has had the baby for about 4 days now.

Thought I would add a picture or two for the heck of it! Baby was hiding under mama sadly so no picture of him.

Sooooo I tried putting some babies under her. I had a towel over my hand and slowly went under her with her pecking angerly. She calmed down once I put a baby under her and stroked her feathers. I got 2 under her and it was going great then the baby she originally had shot out from under her and started crying and got her all upset. I tried to catch him and shove him under her before she moved but that wasn't the case. She got up in a tizzy pecking at my hand while her baby was bouncing off the walls and the two I put under her are sitting in confusment of where their warm mama went. I went to get the babies I put in there then the other baby shot out of the container! He then ran into the cage I was keeping a aggressive rooster to sell! I ripped the cage open before the rooster even knew what was going on and the baby already ran out and was across the room! I lost sight of him cussing the whole time looking and thankfully my corgi found him and I finally snatched him up and put him with his mom. I got the 2 confused babies to put in a different brooder and the other shot out again! I caught him right away thankfully and put the trouble maker back. So I am going to try one more time in about an hour so they can settle down again... dear lord that was a trip!
