Plastic without insulation doesn't hold heat as well as the others. I have plastic. But that's where the thermostat comes in, it controls the heat as needed.

Maybe strofoam or tinfoil will help better for the cracks or edges in the wood. Or the op could caulk the outside edges.. Anything might help. We know temperature is paramount for hatching

Mines uninsulated and in a chilly room, I wrap it with a scarf and place it on a towel. Does the trick.Yea mine is plastic but has styrofoam on the inside plus i use 2 different thermostats n hydrometers that read accordingly n my hatch was good
