HELP- Incubator Heat rope - Omega or ....??

I have two questions

1. Can you use regular heat rope for pipes from lowes to heat an incubator?

2. I have the Omega Heat rope that I was told would work now How do you hook it up? It looks like its only one wire that runs the length of the rope??

The only experience we've had with something like your heat tape is to wrap it around pipes. Now my hubby had it hooked up to a thermostat which turned it on when it sensed near freezing temperatures. It seems like your wire would have to be hard-wired to some kind of thermostatic control that would keep it in the range of the temp you want for your bator. Hopefully some one in this forum with have the electrical background to tell you what to do.

Thank- I have seen a few incubators with the heat rope in them but I can't remember who made them ?? If I could remember I would ask them.
