Just you guys know that the injured baby chick seems to be doing well all things considered. Ive seen it eat and drink a little on a few different occassions that ive checked on it and its moving about a little, it was grooming itself/preening feathers earlier too. It has pooped which is a good sign in my opinion and it looks normal. It even tried to fly out of the tote and run when i went to medicate it so atleast it feels well enough for that. The wound also looks a little better, much less red and angry looking and more pale pink.
I was thinking, while i never have had any signs in the coop or the brooder that maybe it was a rat that got ahold of the baby. It could have been attracted to the feed that the chicks knock out their feeder. Ive never haf any probs before today so i never closed up their little coop door since it pred proof (to most predetors anyway) but now i know better and will close the door each night with them all inside.
Again thank yall for your help
im hopeing the chick will make a swift recovery thanks to it
