My quail was in her cage out in the yard today. The cage has half inch barring and something attacked her beak. There are western scrub jays around that are known bird killers and I seen them once go near her cage, but I didn't think they could get to her. Her beak and I believe her nostril was bleeding. Not sure about the nostril. The bleeding has stopped and but her beak looks misaligned, like her bottom beak got pushed. She is a bit active, currently running in her cage, but also very sleepy. I fed her some turmeric water, which caused the bleeding to stop. I don't know if she can eat though. What do I do? Beak injuries are the worst, everything else I can cure but this is hard. Please, any suggestions will be much appreciated!!! Her face feathers are all puffed up so I can't tell if anything is swollen. How do I fix this problem?
Sorry about the terrible picture quality. I will try to get better pics soon.

It looks a bit dislocated.

Update: She keeps opening her beak and closing it, like she is gasping for breath but not too terribly. Her right eye is watery and her face looks swollen.
What can I do to prevent infection? Please help.

It is possible the beak is dislocated. If it is, she probably won't make it. You can use corn starch to stop any bleeding on the face and beak. But if she is gasping for air, chances are she is going into shock. Get her inside and under some heat. That is if it is cool where you live. 85 to 90 degrees is good for birds in shock. But trying to put the beak back in place will only cause her pain and could kill her. So all you can do is keep her comfortable and hope she can heal. I hope she pulls through.
