We've been battling a weasel for over a week and after getting 12 chickens, it injured one of our muscovies before we were able to get him!
Our muscovy survived and is inside our home now recuperating but I noticed her neck looks twisted, or has a lump on one side?
Not entirely sure as a lot of feathers are missing in that area, so maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there...

We've cleaned the area, applied ointment (that's the shine you see) and she's eating, drinking and pooping fine. She's back to trilling and peeping at me when she sees me... but still guarded (as can be expected)

Any advice or am I worried for nothing?

It looks to be some pretty severe swelling from the attack. You've done great so far making sure it's clean and all! I'll tag a few users here who might have some advice.

Thank you so much for doing that - I really appreciate it!

I was thinking swelling.. it feels warm to the touch but again wasn't sure if I was reading into too much. Was really hoping it isn't infected but I'm not even sure when the attack occurred overnight to know how long she sat there with bite wounds...

That is def swelling. Do you have the option of a vet looking at her? I'd think she may need an antibiotic. You can order them online let me see if I can find what would be best. But I am thinking infection may be starting. First is there any drainage and what color and does the wounds smell?

do you have any antibiotics in your med chest?
Let's see if the others will chime in on antibiotic

Hi Miss Lydia
Luckily I have found a vet not too far away from me, just concerned on how quickly she'll be able to see us but I'll give her a call. If I can order something I'm more than willing to do that as well! Anything you can recommend I'll take!

There doesn't appear to be any drainage it's hard but soft if that makes sense? She's allowing me to stretch her neck to look around and under... and hasnt squeaked at me out of pain.
No noticeable smell - her poop is awful though lol
It does feel warm to the touch... that's why I suspected potential infection but wasn't sure how to treat externally if that was an option

Just an update - called the vet and she was able to fit us in this afternoon!! I'll continue to wash the area and apply ointment until she can be seen.
Hopefully it's nothing serious - she's continuing to drink and eat but is obviously still guarded/traumatized.
I'll do the warm compresses as suggested as well! Thank you!

Missed the antibiotics part - only have amoxicillin in capsule format - also have metacam from when our dog was injured but not sure on dosage

So glad you were able to get in so quickly please update when you can.
so if she needs an antibiotic the vet can help you with it.
