Friday afternoon I found my two ducks separated and hurt. My best guess is they we’re attacked by dogs, which plucked most of their feathers and tore their skin. I brought the ducks in and cleaned them as best I could, google said to clean the wounds with saline so I did. While there is a lot of torn skin I didn’t find any actual teeth punctures. This Saturday I was able to get them to the vet which gave us antibiotics and a spray. Right now I have them both in the bathtub since it’s safe and easier to keep clean. Both of them are drinking and talking to each other, but I’ve only seen one eat… I’ve also noticed that the one not eating has been having green diarrhea while the other has normal droppings. Is she in shock? How can I get her to start eating??

as for the food issue try making a mush that is easy for them to eat.

Mix some 20%protein crumble with water until it is mash that is easy to swallow. Dab some of the mix ito the mouth if they don’t eat it on their own. Also you may have to force feed if they still refuse to eat.

Also add some electrolytes to the water. With either hydo-hen or Gatorade

Could you send some photos?

I had a duck I had to nurse back to health and he had to be force fed for a few days. This happened a few years ago. Here Is a before and after photo from when he was injured. He has since made a full recovery. If you want to know how to force feed let me know.

I will try to get some photos.

I’ve been able to get her to swallow the antibiotics which are pills so I’m hopeful I can get her to eat the same way. I’ll pick up some Gatorade tomorrow for their water. Thank you!

I have a duck with the same problem as in the pic and I can’t get him to get anything but he’ll drink water just fine but I’m thinking a raccoon or something tried to get him throw the fence because his leg
And side looks like it was scraped clean and his leg looks broken and I can’t tell if he has a open wound or not

I would post a separate thread of your bird + photos. So more people can help you. For the food make A watery paste. You can do two things make a thick paste and put it in the mouth with your fingers or make a very watery paste and slowly syring feed them.
