Hi!
I’m a new since covid chicken mamma. We have one run for hens and one for the guys. It’s worked fine until now. Yesterday we got 2 polish pairs to add (all of ours and the new ones are around 5-6 months old)
I tried separating them and they seemed so sad. Can I separate them since they have only been together, or if I need to keep them together what can I do so the others aren’t mean to them?
Current setup pics attached. Hen house is red & white barn type on the left with attached run. Bachelor house has the green barn house and the red & black house inside the run.
We have silkies and polish Roos. (5)
Silkies and Wyandotte hens (7)currently.
thanks in advance for advice!!

I would keep the two polish together but within their own area in the coop/run. I do the see but no touch integration before allowing them to mingle with the flock. I haven't had any issues doing it this way.

I’m a little confused about what you mean regarding them being together all ready. Did you get the new hens and put them straight into the coop?
The 4 new ones are a boy and girl of each breed (he was going to breed them but decided not to). They have only been with each other since he got them

Like in a big metal dog cage inside the run? Sorry I’m new & learning
No, they should be in a completely different location on the property for a 30 day quarantine. If they have already had contact with your current flock it is most likely too late. You should never place new birds in with your flock without a quarantine period. You don't know what these birds could be carriers of even if they appear perfectly healthy. Stress of integration can also cause hidden illnesses to appear.

For instance, we use a Huge broode4 box for our younger ones, then when they are old enough go into an adjoining run, so they can see, hear and get to know the others for a few weeks before we integrate them into the flock. Good you’re asking though! I’m new here too and this is how we learn! Good luck!
