i took my rabbit outside today and i picked her up out of her cage and she snorted at me and i noticed that her stomach felt bigger than my other rabbits, i tried palpating her abdomen and i felt nothing.
could it be a false pregnasy? also we have wild cottontails near our house, if she is pregnant could a cottontail have bred with her???? or i thought that she might just be to fat?
thanks in advance

could a cottontail have bred with her?

No. Cottontails and domestic rabbits are related (obviously, since they are both rabbits), but the relationship is too distant to create viable offspring.

If your rabbit has been housed with a male rabbit, or even next door to a male (assuming the dividing wall is wire), there is a possibility that she could be bred. If you are absolutely sure that no male has had access to her, then you can be equally sure that she's not pregnant. Could it be a false pregnancy? Well, that usually requires that she has been mounted by another rabbit (of either gender), and if that hasn't happened, that probably isn't what's going on, either. But it is Spring, and if ever a doe gets cranky and hormonal, this would be the time.

there is a male rabbit next to her cage, but i was wondering if while she was outside she could've met up with a male cottontail

Your rabbit is either pregnant or she isn't. There is not much you can do about it either way. If she was my rabbit I would give her a nest box. If she is pregnant she can put it to good use. If she isn't, no harm done.

From what Ive read, wild rabbits and domesticated rabbits cannot crossbreed.
Any news as to if shes had kits yet?
no kits, im sad but also glad. we dont have a nesting box so i gave her a cardboard box and she just chewed it up so i thinking shes not pregnant and was just in heat
