Day 20 bobwhite quail eggs. They hatch somewhere between 21-23 days. At 100°F with humidity of 50-55% for first 20 days. Just bumped humidity up to about 73% and left temp at 100°F for lockdown. I candled a few before lockdown and I’m not sure if these are internal pips? It’s already been about 14 hours since I noticed the few that look like this (I’m not sure how long they’ve looked like this for before candleing) and no sign of them externally pipping yet. When should I be concerned or expecting them if these are internal pips?
This is my first time hatching and I’m nervous lol!

Thank you in advance. 😊

Hello, congratulations on your first hatch! These eggs do look like they have internally pipped, which is good. I wouldn't be worried yet as it can take even a few days after internal pip for them to external pip. The average time I think is 24-48 hours, though. The best thing you can do is resist the urge to keep pulling them out and checking on them - they could become shrink-wrapped because of the change in humidity.

Phew. Ok thank you sooo much! I candled them as I took them out of the turner for lockdown but definitely won’t look again! I hope all goes well. Thank you for the information!! 🥰

I have 6 chicks out out of 37 so far. They just started zipping/hatching about 40 min ago! My only regret is not putting a cabinet liner in the bottom. Will do so next time :)

Hi! You seem to have some idea of what you’re taking about. I’m new to quail and have 5 17 day old quail eggs in the incubator. Is it safe to candle? I’m worried I’ll just hurt them.
