Help- is this fowl pox?

It could be a respiratory disease mycoplasma (MG.) You may want to try antibiotics such as Tylan 50 injectable from feed stores. Dosage is 0.2 ml per pound given orally or by injection into the breast muscle, twice a day for 5 days.

I would also clean the eyes with saline and wiping out the gunk or crusts. Then apply some Terramycin eye ointment twice a day.

MG is a chronic disease that can comb back when they are stressed, such as during cold weather or during molt. All chickens in the flock should be considered carriers if this is MG.

I’m not seeing fowl pox. I agree MG is a distinct possibility with those draining eyes. In addition to the eye care and meds, supportive care like vitamins and electrolytes can help their overall health so they can combat the illness. Did you out windows tin the shed comverted to chicken coop? Ventilation in important.

Yes , they have three windows at the top and two vents on the bottom so it is well ventilated . They spend most of their day outside in a large 10 foot long run too. I’ll get the meds and ointments . Thanks for the help !!

She did just finish a moly and the weather was cold at the time so maybe that made her susceptible . I’ve also noticed they all huddle together in the nesting boxes instead of roosting bc of their age and she is always on bottom of the pile so I think that may increase her risk.

How can I tell the difference in Coryza and MG? I’m a “crazy” animal lover per my husband so will not cull and think of my three girls as pets. The idea of MG seems like she will never get better and my other two will get it. Should I assume MG and treat with denagard? I haven’t noticed any smell from her or coop. We haven’t had any other bird exposures ever and we have had them six months. We have two swallows in barn but they aren’t near the girls area, and no pigeons. We do have goats next to them? Can they give it to them?

They are 7 months old and are definitely old enough to roost. Mine roost by 4-5 weeks. Are your roost poles higher than your nest boxes?

The roost board is three inches wide and is about six inches lower than next boxes (we have four) and in front of it. It is at two and a half feet high and next boxes about three feet. We have three chickens and the board is four feet long. They roost in it during the day and roost on the outdoor ones we have but at night they all cram in the next box . Not sure if it is temperature driven because we are in Colorado ? We haven’t had any predator or rodent issues. Is my roost too low? I thought about putting a ladder in

I’m an MD so have stock bottles of doxycycline 100 at home , I read I can treat MG with 50 mg a day. Does that seem accurate ? Our hen is 7 months old . I was going to pour capsule into water and dissolve and give by syringe and add vitamins and lytes to water
