Hey there!

I'm having some problems with one of my young hens. Back story on her, we added two hens to our flock. It went well for a week until the hen that's highest in the pecking order went after them. She pulled all the feathers from their butts and they were bleeding bad there. They weren't prolapsed just bleeding and feather less. I took them out and tried to heal them. They then got a nasty butt... I couldn't tell it if was gleet or just poop getting stuck to the new feathers. One hen died and I'm left with one nasty butt hen. I've been giving yogurt, doing Epsom baths, spraying with Blu Kote in case it isn't gleet and doing a garlic butt wash that's supposed to help gleet. Nothing is working for her.

She layed her first two eggs this week and is completely normal besides her nasty butt. She got a garlic butt wash and Blu kote yesterday so she's a bit purple and wet looking in the pictures.

No lice or mites. One hen is a chronic feather picker... She usually just does it to herself (she has to wear a saddle for it and it definitely isn't a lack of protein) and I caught her picking them there and pulling the feathers.

I'll try to get a picture of her vent... Not really sure how to but I'll try and figure it out! Some days she looks really good and others, like today just nasty. She is also in a kennel since she's separated from the others so I'm sure that doesn't help her "icky-ness".

This picture was before cleaning her up at all.

This one was taken after cleaning her up and clipping feathers. I'm assuming that this is gleet. Any recommendations other than the Apple Cider Vinegar water, yogurt, etc? I don't understand why she is still laying! She was a bit red and irritated on her vent but she did bleed when laying her second egg so I assume that's normal.

I didn't realize I never replied directly to you so I don't know if it shows up for you or not! Clearly I'm new here! ;)

Looks like gleet to me. I'm not sure what would be used to treat it.
My first guess would be an oral antifungal. But again, I wouldn't know which direction to point you in, I've never personally dealt with fleet before.
Hopefully someone will be along to give you some better advice.

You can crush up garlic and put it in her water, I've read it is antifungal. Coconut oil is also antifungal, perhaps you could give her some of that?
