HELP!!! I've lost 2 already!!

Well, you *have* to continue with the antibiotics. You should never ever stop them once you start unless there's a violent reaction to them. You disable your ability to use a medicine that way, create 'superbugs'. You should be giving probiotics (not yogurt, but something like acidophilis capsule contents - see the vitamin section of drugstores and walmart) daily also please. Remember - oxytetracycline is a 14 day course, no less. That's 14 days of killing good bacteria in the digestive tract. so you have to replace them or birds get diarrhea, lose nutrients, the medicine moves too fast through them and doesn't work, they get lethargic, get secondary yeast and bacterial infections, etc. So please replace the bacteria every day during treatment, every other day for the 2 weeks thereafter. it's very very important.

So you can't switch. It's a completely different medicine. I sure hope it's the right one.

And for kids on antibiotics too. Anti -against, biotic - life.

ok, how should I give this to them? in their food?

It depends. Some like yogurt as a treat on its own. Some are "offended" by its sticky goopey texture. So try it straight. If they don't like it, you can mix some yogurt and water - and then mix that with crumbles. Let set 10 minutes til it's damp, soft, not wet or sticky. Then remove their food at least 20 minutes before feeding them the damp mash. Put the mash in front of them (make sure everyone gets it) and then remove when done or 15 minutes, whichever comes first. Put their dry mash back. Or use cooked oatmeal as the base as birds love it.

With the acidophilis capsules/tablets, you either break the capsule and empty it into a cup or crush a tablet. Use the powder. Either sprinkle on oiled feed if they're eating normally, or you can mix with just enough water to make a paste - then either give directly in the beak (to idividuals) or mix with a quickly eaten damp treat like you would the yogurt - minus the added water. Hide in small amounts of cooked oatmeal, even mashed eggs since the acidophilis is about 1/4 teaspoon. Probios it's 1/4 teaspoon powder so you use just like the acidophilis.
