Help! Just discovered my male peking is not well!

I have him in a very large rubbermaid tote with straw at the bottom. He's wrenching in pain. He keeps falling over and most of the time he sticks his butt like 90 degree straight up in the air and leans on his chest. He hasn't pooped all afternoon. I think his butt is in pain.

Any thoughts?

I've been researching and the way he's got his but high up in the air like his bottom hurts - I was looking for a prolapsed phallyus (he's about 18 weeks old and has two girl ducks). But I've looked carefully at his private parts and I don't see anything. Is it possible that's his problem but it's just not prolapsed enough to be totally hanging out of his body? I finally laid him on his back and he seems more comfortable that way.

I'm not an expert... But I used to work for an avian veterinarian. We had a patient with a prolapsed phallus. He was walking around completely normally, except that his penis was dragging on the ground.

But, we only had one patient. It is possible there can be different expressions that I am unaware of.

Sorry to hear about your drake.

You did a good job by bringing him inside, at this point we'll want to give him some time to rest, and then try to a full-body physical examination for any abnormalities that might give us some sort of idea what his problem is. Here is a link regarding that,

Is he eating or drinking? Was this sudden, or did it occur over a few days? Has he been acting off recently? What does his poop look like?

Several things can cause what you're seeing, possibly toxicosis, dehydration, infection, neurological damage, or disease of sorts. We'll try to piece things together as best as we can to narrow down, what might be the real cause of his sudden problem.

I'm doing just as you say. I was concerned that I didn't see him poop all evening. I wrapped him in a towel and have him in a tote. I laid him on his back bc he kept contorting himself and pushing his butt way high in the air. He really looked like he was in pain.

When I laid him on his back he calmed down. I think he's more comfortable that way. I watched him for about a half hour, giving him water with a straw. He was drinking fine and would take a little food too. Finally he pooped - very watery but color just fine.

His eyes are gunky and his breathing is labored. Not rapid but labored. He opens his mouth like a yawn with every breath. But he's relaxed. I hope he's better in the morning.

Well - he survived the night sleeping on his back. Pooped twice - I was grateful for that. And now he's light as a feather. I have been nudging him to drink water and he will eat a little here and there. Poor dear. I don't like seeing how light he is.
