Help! Just discovered my male peking is not well!

have you checked his legs and hips closely.....as my drake grew I noticed that one leg was pigeon toed and then he slipped a tendon in the other leg he started the flipping and continued to emaciate despite hand feeding him 2-3x daily. i finally made the difficult decision to cull earlier this week.
I'll check that soon - having to work while doing this. I haven't noticed anything with his legs - I've checked them many times and he doesn't seem to react when I touch his legs.

He seems to eat and drink on his own when I make it available to him.

Right now I just gave him a good bathing in the sun. All this nursing care left him dirty and soiled and covered in all sorts of smelly remnants of feces and pond dirt. Now I have him drying in the sun for a little before I wrap him again in towels and lay him down to rest next to his water and food.

I find if I don't wrap him he keeps moving and writhing and sticking his butt in the air and knocking his water all over himself. This is so sad.

I'm so sorry you had to lose your sweet baby.

He's eating much more and drinking a lot and his weight is picking up. I don't have a really great scale to use - just my bathroom scale and he seems to be about 8 lb.

I can feel that he's heavier now that I'm making him drink.

I keep him inside and try to wrap him bc he flops around a lot and then he can't drink or eat bc he knocks everything over.

But if I wrap him and set him in a position where he can reach his food and water he drinks and eats a lot.

He doesn't seem any better. He still has gunky eyes and doesn't quack much- as though he has a sore throat. When he swallows food- unless it's mushy, I see him shake his head - I'm thinking it hurts his throat.

His breathing is still labored. He seems to want to roll on his back but now I know that's not good for him... that's why I wrap him so he can't roll around. He twerks a lot - I don't know if it's neurological like seizures or if it's pain.

2 questions - (you can read the last post for back ground)...

1 - I know it's bad to have him on his back but if I don't he's liable to roll all over the place and put himself in almost dangerous positions - he'll push his neck up against the edge of the tote he's in or stand up and then flop on his back. Last night he seemed to enjoy sleeping on his back - he was very peaceful and it allow me to get a few hours of shut eye. Is it okay to let him do that for a few hours tonight?

2 - How long does it take for a sick ducky to start showing improvement. Am I expecting too much to expect an improvement in a few days. I'm feeding and watering him continuously.
