HELP!!! Just starting my first Lockdown...

Lol, I have eggs everywhere and put in at all different times. I've got 3 different mail orders and the ones from my yard as well as some blue palm turkey eggs I picked up out of the yard so yea, I have a mess.

So should I wait to lockdown until the air sacks get big enough instead of going by my day count??? The sacks on the 6 that are on day 24 look a lil small compared to a guide I printed off but they are definitely slanting at an angle. According to the guide, they look like they are between days 18 and 21 so they look like they are several days behind. The humidity has been holding between 40 and 45 % throughout so do you think those eggs are just a little behind schedule due to the low temps they were subjected to early in the incubation?

If they are significantly small I'd run dry and just wait until the first pip to "lock em down". Cells on the average are slanted, at least mine are...lol but when draw done, it's real noticeable, like the pic Ruby posted.

O wow, the first time I saw Ruby's pic I just saw the pencil lines but now I see that the air sac is halfway down the egg. I will pull my water out and run dry for a couple days to see where I'm at. Running dry shouldn't hurt the other eggs in that Lyon incubator will it??? Most are 16 or 14 days in and a few are only 4 days in. I live on the eastern plains of colorado and it is really dry here, RH of prob 12-15.

Nope, especially not for a day or too. I don't usually suggest 12-15% that's real low, I did run 16% for two days at the end of my last hatch last year cause I wanted my cells a bit bigger. If you are not comfortable with it that low (and I don't blame you) put a piece of wet sponge in there and see if that brings it up a tad without going over 25-30%

I run 30% the first 17 days.(Up to lockdown.) If I can go dry and hold close to that I will, if not I use a sponge and that holds it normally, right around that 30ish %.

Okay, I'm gonna try to get it down to around 20 and see if we can't get that to shrink those egg sacks by monday afternoon. Thanks again! I'll let you know how the hatch turns out and hopefully get some gorgeous lil duckies to post pictures of on here!!!

Keep in mind that those lines were from when I candled. I don't remember the days for candling peafowl, I think it's like 10,18,23 or something. The third line was traced just a day or two before the picture was taken. So that's how much the air cell draws down right before pip. It happen fairly quickly. but not until they are ready to start the hatching process.
