HELP! Kitten in the Christmas Tree

I use a cat repellant, which you can pick up at just about any pet store and I think even walmart. Spray the whole tree, before you plug it in, with an extra dose at the bottom and completely around the base of the tree. Let it completely dry before plugging your tree in. I find it works with all four of my cats, for several weeks at a time. Especially coat your tree skirt with it.

To distract the kitten, put a bell on its collar. I find that will occupy them for hours. Also give it a new scratching post, far from the tree. I like the cardboard ones, my cats go nuts for them.

Do what I do- decorate the christmas tree with cat toys, and quit worrying about it.

This what the veterinarians I used to work with recommended. Citrus. Either lemon scented air freshners or real citrus peels. I've draped them deep in the tree so they don't show. It's been a long time since we've had a kitten and I don't really remember if it worked. Supposedly cats really hate that scent.
We do always tie our tree with fishing line to hooks in the ceiling or a sturdy curtain rod. We have three dogs and two cats and a 5 year old so we haven't had breakable ornaments at the bottom of the tree for years! We find the ornaments the cats bat around every morning and rehang them.
And as someone else said already NO tinsel!!

Thank goodness my cats leave our tree alone, except for hiding under it and attacking anyone who walks by!

I don't know how to stop em, when ours were kittens they'd try climb the tree, the first year we had a real tree and then tried a fake - the fake seemed to not interest them as much!

I never really minded if they were in the tree, until they knocked the whole thing over, that was a mess. I tied it with fishing line to a hook in the ceiling. Problem solved and they eventually lost interest. Good Luck

Mareloo, got any lion pee you can loan me?? I can't find mine. LOL! You guys are great!
I will say one thing, a couple of branches wouldn't light, but when Gilbert jumped down on them they lit right up!! Good Kitty!!
