We have a Planning/Zoning Commission date for the Hearing to legalize backyard chickens in Paulding County, GA. I have no idea what I'm doing taking on this battle, but have found myself a chicken advocate and want to keep my small flock of 5 safe. It has been 4 years since Paulding has had this come to a board, and we lost then 5-0 vote. Several local cities allow chickens, but only in city limits. I am pushing for R-2 Residential Districts to have chickens with safe restrictions. R-2 residents have at least 0.46 acre per lot.
The date for the hearing is Jan 27, 2015 at 2 and 7 pm. Feel free to contact our local commissioners to voice your support of legalizing small backyard chickens, less than 6, no roosters, and must be maintained in healthy, humane manners.
