Help! Loud females

Just a bit of a background to help with my dilemma. My husband and I started off with 2 peking ducks. One male and one female that we got when they were just a couple of days old. The female passed after only a couple of years and we debated on whether or not to replace her. We went almost a year and felt bad for the male knowing that ducks paired up. We ended up adopting a female and the age was unknown. She was laying eggs and then stopped. We never saw her start again and to our surprise three babies hatched. We ended up with 2 females and 1 male. They all lived happy together until Momma duck passed away. Since then the females have become loud. Interestingly enough they get louder around 4pm. I make sure they have clean water, food and lettuce for treats. My concern is my neighbors. When we had the the first female she was quiet and then the second female was quiet as well. The babies stayed quiet until Momma passed. I know it aggravates the neighbors. They have mentioned it in passing but have not come out and said specifically to do something about the loud ones. I am trying to be a responsible pet owner but I am at my wits end. I really don't want another Momma duck and I really don't want to re home the younger females but something has to give. If I found the ideal situation for the younger girls will the Daddy duck and son get along?

Thank you in advance.
Statia

And I am surprised the fowl police have not questioned Daddy duck with two dead wives.

Ok your all going to laugh at me again. When they get loud go talk to them. We actually have a female Pekin named Loudmouth and there is a really good reason for that.
First off she is a tattle tale. But we have found when she gets really Loud all she wants is our attention. One of us will go out and sit in a chair and just talk to her. She doesn't want anything just to let us know she is there and wants attention. After a few minutes of one on one attention she quiets down, until she needs to discuss her day some more. We don't have neijbors close, but she is so loud it will drive us nuts. :barnie

Not laughing out at all. I do go out and sit with them and they do seem to calm down. I just can't be out there all the time and I am not always home. :(

Are they mating? Mine seem to be the loudest when the drake is being "assertive" and the girls aren't in the mood.

And if you have 2 males and 2 females, there could be some competition going on, causing them to be louder also.

It just started after the mother died. By mating do you mean like a season or at the moment. Lol

So, what you're saying is... your ducks have you trained! Isn't it amazing how our pets can do that to us and we never see it happening? :lau
