I am so sorry.

I had to cull my first chick today, and I am still devastated over it. She had a bad leg and after two weeks of physical therapy, she was really suffering and she was getting worse.

The method I used seemed to be pretty painless. http://www.waldeneffect.org/how_to_cull_chicks/ It's the baking soda/vinegar method. Please note that the above link does have a photo of a euthanized chick in it.

The death wasn't traumatic to the chick, and it wasn't as traumatic to me. I just don't think I could've cut her head off.

Thank you soooo much. I will for sure use this method. It seem to be fast and painless and much less violent than the other ones. I can't cut it head off or break it's neck. It sounds awfull. Thank you again. I am really sorry for your loss.

I just culled my baby chick using the vinager/baking soda method. It was fast and painless. I think this is the best way to do it. RIR baby chick

I had a gimp baby once, and it didn't take long before a snake came around and ate it!!! You could give it to someone with a snake?! Also, what I did with an iguana once that got attacked and was suffering...I put it in the freezer to go to sleep...although the iguana was cold-blooded so it was a pretty quick way to end its life in the freezer. I think if it were me I would find someone with a pet snake! Nice and quick, and goes to nourish another. Yeah, really sorry to hear about your situation!

I'm glad it was as quick for your baby as it was for mine.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I bet you're feeling the same as me- grief that it wasn't healthy, guilt that you actually killed something, and relief that you did the kindest thing.

Do you remember who the seller on ebay was? We have actually been considering purchasing eggs from ebay and this makes me nervous about it. Does this occur more often with eggs from ebay?
I am so sorry for your loss. It is amazing how fast we come to love these little beings!!
