The silver may not be available over the counter. I'm not sure.
If not, you can try Neosporin. Do not get the pain reliever one though as it is toxic. Just the regular one. Literally COVER the foot in it.
The maggots probably will. But the maggots are not a HUGE problem. The maggots only infest dead and infected flesh and do no harm to healthy flesh.

As for the leg, I do not think it will fall off on it's own, and honestly amputating yourself is INCREADIBLY risky.
The bird can easily go into shock and die from the pain of the procedure.

There is not a vet in my immediate area. I will make some phone calls and see what else is around here - maybe a wildlife center that could help. I’m in WV so if anyone else reading this thread has any info, I’d geatly appreciate it.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable trying to amputate anyways. I know the body does incredible things trying to heal itself - I’m wondering if with proper care and antibiotics, the wound will heal.

It would be a very SLIM possibility of it healing.
At this point, the tissue is looking necrotic, and the bone is exposed which is likely already getting infected.
Without the leg gone it is most likely that antibiotics would only delay the onset of sepsis.
Once infection gets in the bone it will spread up the leg unless the connection is severed.
I'm praying and hoping I am wrong!
Is there a zoo in your area? They may be able to help as well.
