I don't understand why you think this will help? For these chemicals to get into the oils around the feather shafts is going to take quite a while and the birds could be dead by then. Now don
t get me wrong...I am a firm believer in natural remedies that work and in the case of a mite or lice infection i would want the 'old fashioned' approach of Sevin Dust as a topical, instant kill method. Especially since the birds are already showing wasting.

Okay, I'm no expert on homeopathic medicine, but I do get the premise and the actions on the body. In MHO, anyone using this on their birds is asking for trouble. The potassium level of the first 2 scare me, quite frankly. I personally wouldn't use it myself, never mind on my chickens. Homeopathy is a specialized course of treatment and what would work on one person isn't always going to work the same on another. The same for the birds. You would have to be able to judge their overall acid level, etc., etc., before you could say whether this would work for your own chickens.

Now I'm not knocking this treatment, just giving my own opinion about it. It may very well work for some, but for others...I think the cure could end up being worse than the problem.

Well, it's been a while since I've been on, kept meaning to but didn't. I was going to share the good news about my girl, Jessica (H)Ennis who had the bad leg that I thought might have been Marek's. Well, I didn't do THE deed but kept her and give her the Vit B complex suggested elsewhere. She's vastly improved, still got a limp and after quite a while has started laying eggs again.

The good news is mitigated by this mornings events. I went out to let the girls out only to find a scene of devastation. Feathers everywhere. One came out, Jessica, then I looked around fearing the worse and found one poor girl in the veg bed minus head disemboweled with a perfectly formed yolk near her. I then found another, again minus her head, but couldn't find the remaining one presumably taken away. A sad day. I think the fox, if that's what it was, got under a gap in the wire.

How sad!!! My neighbor found a hen once missing her head , a raccoon had reached thru the wire.

I'm glad Jessica is doing well. Laying eggs is a very good sign.

happy Jessica is feeling better - eggs have to be a good sign right? I hope you find the predator that created the carnage and send him an expiration notice

It was so sad. When we thought about getting chickens they started off as just egg laying machines but you realise they have their own personalities. Before getting replacements got to make sure it's predator proof as best as I can make it.

Hi guys, I have a 12 week old frizzle silkie that has an open wound on her tail. I brought her inside and washed the wound and gave her some vitamins. Also started her on antibiotics as it was a pretty nasty looking wound and she wasn't looking her best. The wound is healing well but I noticed today she has started limping and doesn't have much movement in one of her legs, toes curled sometimes. No visible signs of injury. I gave her some aspirin but no improvement were seen. She still eats and drinks.
Could the wound on her tail be another symptom of Mareks? I really hope not, I've just started breeding and selling. :(

If it is of interest to anyone, I just had about my fifth hen come down with Marek's. All others have died, but I was able to cute this one but giving her Super Natural silver... Just dosed her with it a couple times and kept her isolated and within a day she was up and walking again.

Hi, and welcome. It's so sad when they all just start dropping off. Currently I have 17 out of 28 in various pens in open air, no coop, but protection from rain. I want to see if it makes a difference. I'm in Florida, so cold isn't a problem, hot weather is. I wonder how many positice results are gotten from using that colloidal silver.
