Help me! 4H Broilers. First timer

Great! That’s what I will do. Do you think we need to do this supplement too? Here’s a picture
I can't read the instructions, but if you use it, I would follow the instructions to the T.
No need to reinvent the wheel when all these manufacturers have instructions on the label.

@duluthralphie are you familiar with 4H standards for broilers?

@Cara Carter what part of the country are you in? What's your weather like now?

Semi familiar. They seem to be different at each fair and with each judge.

I had a couple kids showing toads this year, one place loved them another said they were too big. To each his own.

As a rule they seem to want an 8 pound bird at 8 weeks.

I would back off on the feed some and after a week only feed once a day at night. I would normally cut the protein and free range them to make the legs stronger by forcing them to chase bugs and worms.

I would also show a 9 week old bird raised my way as I think the body strength and endurance would show..It would be worth the hit for being a week old from most judges.

As meat birds they do not have a "SOP" to breed too so you will need to pick a large breasted bird with good legs. Just one that looks good is about all and hits the weight pocket.

In most places this means you are stuck with Cx's. If you plan to show a market pen of three start with at least 15 so you can grab the 3 most uniform ones. (Even 25 would not be a bad number to start with...the rest can always go in the freezer) AFTER the show..Do not kill before the show or the one you want to show will die.....Murphy's law..
