And not give in to chicken math!! Hahaha... I am a first time chicken mom. I brought home 4 straight run Blrw and 2 olive on Monday. They were all, except for one, hatched Saturday. Well I just went to the local feed store near us, to check it out... Lol. It's chicken days there and they had tons of chicks in a variety of breeds I really want. And they are all pullets. I can feel chicken math creeping up! I'm in ohio and have to buy a minimum of 6! If I got 6 more I would have 12 chicks..I'm already rationalizing keeping 12 chickens. Although I really don't think my luck is good enough to have gotten 6 pullets in my straight run bunch. What do I do? Help me be patient :)

I can't go to my local feed store these days. They have chicks galore there!!! If I stop by to take a look, I'll leave with 6 more chicks. I can only have more chicks in May, so I am trying to be patient. But I have to say it's soooo hard not to run to the feed store after seeing all the pictures of the cute chicks people keep posting here at BYC. We should start a support group for chicken addicts

But seriously, if you have the space, why not add more? I am not helping, am I?

You think chicken math is bad now, wait until you buy an incubator. 19 new chicks and 60+ in the incubator collecting for one more, only one more, only one more, only one more hatch

Oh my gosh I'm totally in the same at here! I'm a first time chicken owner and the last three times I've gone in the feed store, they had more breeds I wanted! AHHH! I say get six pullets, because you're right, you could have six roos!

The chicken math got me too. I started with 6…got 3 more a couple of days later…then got 3 more today. But 12 is it. And my rationalization was the same…the could be a few too many roo's in this bunch. So here we are….but I'm not allowing even the idea of getting more.

Ain't that the truth?!? My incubator never turns off. I always say I am going to sell all of the chicks, but since I am working on project colors.......... there is always "just one more" I need to keep
