I noticed that my hen can't see through one eye. This barely happened today and i just don't know what happened to her. There is no noticeable discharge around eye and she doesn't close it either. The pupil is still reactive but she just cant see and i don't see any color change as well. Can anybody give me some answers please!!!

Welcome!
How old/young is she?
What breed and have you brought any new birds home recently?

Thank you. She is 4 years old and i havent brought any new hens.

The eye colour looks fine as when they are blind the eye should be a cloudy white colour. Does the eye in person look cloudy white? It can even be a tiny bit cloudy. What is her age as that might affect it? Do you know her parents' health history? Finally where did you buy her?

What have you done to determine that she doesn’t see out of that eye?
Accommodation to light is a good thing, because it usually means there is not total blindness.... with a reactive pupil you would expect that they can at least see shadows or shapes.

Yeah i dont see any color change. She is 4 years old and i dont know her parent history. I just bought her from a regular feed store.

I move my hand from her good eye to the bad eye and she just doesnt react. She is tilting her head upwards so she can see from the good eye. She is still eating and drinking but i could tell she just cant see

Do you remember the name of the feed store? If you do start a conversation with me by pressing on my name and click start a conversation. I would be able to do a basic check of the store and by starting a conversation with only me you can keep the privacy of your location.
