help me choose a hatchery!!!

I ordered 30 bantams from Ideal a few weeks ago, and 1 arrived with two broken legs and a broken wing (I put it down), and 2 died within 24 hours. And I live just hours way from the hatchery!

The key to having chicks arrive in good shape is to buy from the closest hatchery possible so they aren't getting cold and banged around during shipment any longer than necessary. This is especially important with bantams, because they are so very fragile.

You can find a list of hatcheries (sorted by state) and a list of breeders (sorted by breed) at www.CountryChickens.com.

Good luck!
