Help me decided - Rocks or Doms?

I've always liked Barred-pattern chickens. I'm trying to decide if I want a few Barred Rocks or Dominiques. Take a vote!

If you have had a good/bad experience with either breed, please let us know, also.

I have always liked the BR they seem gentle and laid back, years ago that is what we had. I have 7 of them now but they are very young. I have a Dominique Roo, he is my only roo so he has 24 hens at present, he is not real friendly but he is not at all mean to us either, he is only 20 weeks old however seems like he will be fine. So I like him too. Sorry no help, just pick your favorite cause they are both good, or maybe some of each? Good luck.

We've got two dominiques. They are the friendliest of all our ladies, almost to the point of being pests. You always have to look down to make sure you are not stepping on one. We will definitely have more in the future. But I've heard from everyone on here how friendly BRs are too.

Looks like I'm no help either, other to enable you and say get both.

It depends on what you want to do with the birds. If you want them strictly as pets or as layers, then it is really isn't going to make much difference. If you want a dual purpose bird for laying and butchering, the barred rocks I have had over the years were definitely much larger/heavier birds than the dominiques.
