I think my baby chick died of cocci not sure. I went out this morning and it was dead, and now have one that is all flufed up and there is red poop in pen.
I only have SDM injection (give it oraly to my goats) it is Sulfadimethoxine at 40% than I also have SMZ tablets sulfamethoxazole w/Trimethoprim .
As soon as the vets open I can get corid for the water.
I live the little things and just cant lose another one. And of course 15 for each isnt making hubby happy.

Yes, unfortunately, it does sound like cocci. Get some medicated starter for them if you can. I think you can treat them with medicine at the same time - but not certain. Perhaps the specific medicine added to their drinking water would be the quicker route to take in this case. Are they still eating and drinking?
So sorry - but this is treatable if caught in time. So I would try to get started on it right away. Good luck with everything!

Then it sounds as though you need the specific cocci medication that is added to their water. If they're still able to drink you could add some apple cider vinegar to their water while you're getting the medication. I haven't had a problem with cocci since I've been doing this and giving them medicated starter. And like you, there have been times when they have missed a span of 5-7 days and had to eat the unmedicated. Still no problems. The apple cider vinegar is very beneficial apparently. Helps pasty butt, too.
Really, I wish you lots of luck with this.

I got the corid for the water and when I changed it I couldnt tell which one looked like that this morning. So I hope its ok and I also got something to add to the food the help them, the lady said its herbal and she give it to her chicks all the time.
Wish us luck
Cheri
