I am new to this and don't know who is what. I got all of them but two in the spring 08. Can anyone tell me anything?? I believe I have two roos but not 100% I thought I was till I read the post about chickens crowing?!?!?! I am very excited about my chickens but have bunches to learn. Oh, my hens have not started laying but they have just recently started making like little burrows in the hay/ ground anyone know what that is about Thanks in advance!

looks like at least 3, possibly 4 roos to me...

also - have you had your birds very long? Whats wrong with the eye on your one roo and maybe its comb/wattle? Looks like little black spots on it ??

Someone else will know more than me on this as I'm still learning myself - I have all pullets - but you definately have at least 3 roos in that batch for sure.

Welcome to the boards

is that a hen with the floppy comb? really?? Wow - looks like roo to me

how can you tell? unless there's more than one, it looks like its got long tail feathers like the roo in the other pic...

*still learning*....

Which are the roos? I know the one with the green tail feathers. I am not sure on the eye I never noticed and the black spots I can't even catch that one he is fast and feisty!! Is there something wrong?? I will try to get one of my kids to get him so I can take more up close pictures.

I like the brown leghorn hen (the floppy comb)

I have been wondering is a floppy comb bad?? and is that a hen I thought it was but what do I know??!?!?!?

Yeah I just let my kids pick them we ended up with a bit of diversity lol. The white with a few black spots and the black with white specks were given to us a couple days ago.

well *laughing here* I thought, obviously, the one with the floppy comb was a roo...but ....

definately the one you say is a roo - IS a roo...

the white one looks like a young roo to me... leghorn looks like the breed but...

and I wonder if the fuzzy headed one is a roo...you have a pullet in the same breed - but I dont have any fuzzy headed chickens...so I dont know. I have all RIR's

then again I've been known to be wrong before

I dunno about his eye - do chickens have sideways eyelids that I'm not aware of?? (looks around for Miss Prissy) - the black spots could just be dirt or blood from pecking. I was just curious - dont freak out (((((hugs ya))))) I'm a worrier by nature...
