help me identify these eggs!

I think your hen is a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. Very pretty.

thank you for specifying! that makes sense. doctor google doesn't always give me the right answers. i tried to get some help on BYC to identify most of the chickens a little while back. oh and, its hard to see the girl next to her on that picture, but she isn't a wyandotte. she is a white laced red cornish, with very light coloration.

i'm about to post the 6 eggs that have been collocted for the past 7 days the one on the far right is from today (i'm guessing all these came from one hen as i am only getting 1 egg and the girl i suspect laying has a really red comb and wattles compaired to the other 2 girls that were laying earlier this year) as you can see some are spotted while some are solid but all from bcm

that seems plausible. only thing is that i think i got 2 dark ones yesterday, which would mean my one cockoo maran laid 2 eggs in a day? seems unlikely. maybe i missed one the day before?..

How late do you collect eggs? I have one that willl sometimes lay an egg late in the evening, and still lay an egg the next day.

Ditto, and I have all Marans. It is quite common for them to lay both the dark and the spotted. Sometimes we get nice cream colored ones too.

Yep your wayandotte hen is a splash laced red, they are similar to buff laced, but splash laced red has darker mohagany red and buff laced are just gold, and the laces of the SLR are Splash ( ofcourse) and the laces of a true buff laced is dominant white, like the lacing on your WLR cornish hen.

interesting! so you think it could be one of the girls that already lays frequently that just pops out a spotted egg once in a while?

Yup. I'm neurotic enough to spy on them all day to see who lays what. I'll get a heavily spotted egg maybe once a week. It's been really crummy out the past few days and I had to pen her up for attacking my roo. I'll get a spotted egg in a day or two.
