Help me I'm new at this.

The one thing I learned in the very short time since I got my first hens, is to be prepared and you can never read too much.
I have 2 barred rocks, 2 game hens and 3 EE's (still chicks and separate from the hens)

Plan ahead for winter time since it is right around the corner. I have been doing allot of reading on keeping the water from freezing and keeping the girls happy. I also started a first aid kit. Like kids they will get bumps and scraps. Let them get to know you so they won't be afraid of you. If you plan on eating them don't name them, pets are pets and food is food. All my hens are named

Be prepared to fall in love with chickens in ways you never thought possible they all have their own personalities and at times attitudes

. When I first got the idea to raise chickens for eggs I was excited and now I am beyond thrilled with my hens. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

This site is amazing and people are always willing to answer questions. So remember there are no stupid questions or answers.
