Help me modify my prefab coop?

That was an excellent write up and modification, thank you! it seems the easiest and most spacious so far. I just need to board up some walls, remove some insides & relocate the ramp & roosts. Maybe it’s not easy as pie, but seems doable and I’m excited to right my mistake. Do you think I can leave it as a dirt floor? id love that because deep bed method seems like the way to go. It will be inside a predator proof run. I could even pick it up and move it to another spot in the run.

Yes I'd consider leaving it as a dirt floor, since that's the easiest way to handle it.

You shouldn't need ramps as long as there's room for the birds to get up and down on the roosts by jumping.

You will not need 4 nesting boxes for 7 birds. You wouldn't need 4 nesting boxes for 20 birds. You can recover some space by getting rid of at least one of those nesting boxes and if you're certain that you won't succumb to chicken-math, you could remove two nesting boxes without ill effect.

thanks, I was thinking i have a couple of Roos, but now I’m not so sure, they are really feathering out and getting big at 2 weeks! I’m ready to get them outside. My husband is going to start sneezing in the garage!

@rosemarythyme its more like 24sq ft total footprint. The “run” area with the ramp is 9 sq ft, sorry if I was unclear…I am constantly feeling like I’m in the Tower of Babel these days!

I built an external rollaway nesting box to open up more space inside. I then added two 2x4 going the long way from the door to the side with the window instead of how they’re currently going so they have most roosting space. You can also use 2x2 I eventually changed it to 2x4
