Okay..This maybe a stupid questions since I know nothing about these stuff....

I just ordered my Hovabator 1602n and It's gonna be here either today or monday.

I am going to get a dozen of button quail eggs..
It's just for a pet. (I heard that they don't make great pets but it's okay. They're still adorable:D)

I was just reading some forums about button quails in BYC and saw that you need license for raising game birds...
and I know for a fact that button quails are game birds.. (if not, shoot you google)

I doubt you need a license. I have a lot of them and I don't need a license for the button quail ... more so on the other quail I raise. If you have them as pets, I wouldn't worry so much. They are indoor birds and more like finches

Since they're just pets you might not. They usually won't do anything as long as you don't sell them. If you have a few birds around as pets nobody will even know/care most of the time, but just to be safe... Check with the dept. of fish and game. It might be in your best interest to get one, depends on state...

Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really worried if I would need licenses..
Thank you all for replying back!!

As I have said several times before, it depends on where you live. I know for a fact that Maryland and New York DO require you to have a gamebird license to keep button quail. I don't think one is required in Alabama, but it never hurts to check first.

Check with your STATE, not random people online. You might get lucky and someone from AL will post on here as to whether or not one is needed. If you change the title of the thread (edit the first post to change the title) to something like "do I need a game bird permit in AL for button quail?" you have a better chance of getting someone from AL to respond.

I wasn't sure.. so I sent the letter to the email on the official website of nature conservation.

I wish I don't need licenses
