Help me pick my best splash silkie roo!

When choosing the best rooster, I tend to lean heavily towards comb color when all else is equal. I see some show birds with the more red comb but that really bothers me. The standard calls for a mulberry comb. The red comb is very hard to breed out so, that could be one consideration for you. Tempreament is also very important. I always choose the most social boys I can. Skittish chickens can pass that trait on. In my experience, foot feathering is the easiest thing to improve upon by adding a hen with great foot feathers. Toes are a bit tougher.
Many people like really full crests and that is not the hardest thing to improve upon, I tend to like the ones with a medium crest as the Standard calls for over the really full crest as they tend to see better and in my set up where they do have a large yard to range in, they seem to do better. With bearded Silkies, judges don't like to see wattles.

These are just a few things I have found, Hope it helps you decide.

I like Rain better, but then what do I know lol He looks almost as fluffy, but has a sweet look to him/his eyes. His foot feathering looks almost as good as Waterfalls and in the last pic of him standing behind the partridge, he looks alert and tall.

Are these your two new Christmas presents or are they 2 of the 3 you got from me? Did any of your 3 from me end up to be a pullet?

These are the two boys I got from you. I'll have to post a picture of their sister, Droplet. I have another post on here somewhere that has pictures of the two other splash hens I got for Christmas.

The brown one is a partridge silkie hen. They do help blend in more if you are going to free range silkies. Unless its snowing....... then white would be the best.
