I hope your chick will get better, try to buy some purena chick starter and grower I really like it very much. also I live not even a mile from Bagdad mill, but for some reason they don't crumble the laying mesh, so I started buying purena products and my flock is very happy.
Where are you about in KY.
I live 10 miles from shelbyville 35 m from Louisville and 15m from Frankfort.

good luck with your chiken.

I live close to the virginia and tenn. borders way down in the mountains they don't carry purenia here all we have are two little feed stores the best we can get here is called formax which I like alot better than the burkman. In order to get purenia we have to go to virginia and it is alost 18.00 a bag. I pay 11.00 for the formax but they are on the burkman right now because the other guy was out of the formax. I am getting the formax today.

she is a he and he is standing up and is trying to walk now and is straightning up his toes now just acts real weak in his legs. I am going to get him some new vitamins today also and add it to all my chickens and chicks water.

I looked it up, and I am going to confirm what the people above me said, it sounds like curled toe paralysis caused by riboflavin deficiency. I'm no expert, I just looked it up in a book.

The book, btw, is the Chicken Health Handbook by Gail Damerow, a useful thing that I think every chicken owner should have. It helps you identify diseases, but it does not give any ideas as to how to treat nutritional deficiencies.

I also found this site,

http://www.anyvitamins.com/vitamin-b2-riboflavin-info.htm

It's about riboflavin, also known as B2. Most of this concerns humans, but it does have this useful piece of information at the end as to good sources of riboflavin.

"Organ meats, nuts, cheese, eggs, milk and lean meat are great sources of riboflavin, but is also available in good quantities in green leafy vegetables, fish, legumes, whole grains, and yogurt."

If you are feeding chicks on a commercial ration, I would say, switch off it immediately! It's not giving your chicks what they need.

Always give your chickens treats, regardless of what you feed them! Chickens will generally know what they need to eat to stay healthy. Example: I once accidentally gave my chickens buckwheat grain in their treat mix (buckwheat causes photosensitivity in chickens). They ate around the buckwheat and only the wheat berries and oats, which are all right.

Just make sure nothing you feed your chickens has salt on it. You don't want to give your chooks salt poisoning!

where can I buy poly vi sol at?
I am giving duvet vitamins and electrolites it is trying to walk around now a little bit but it is still weak and it does have its feet straightend out now and walking on its feet instead on its shanks

You can usually buy it anywhere baby products are sold. It's by Enfamil and it's a liquid baby vitamin/supplement. Gerber also makes it's own brand which is the same thing. Drug stores or even grocery stores usually sell it.

thanks ruth. I will try to find some tomorrow. I am fixing it some more boiled eggs right now.

okay now my dd just brought in another chick doing the same thing. does anyone know what is going on with my chicks?

should I put them on antibiotics? I have tylan 50 duramycin and sulmet
anyone I don't want to lose any more chicks

I don't think anitbiotics will work - they don't seem to have an infection. I truly believe it is a vitamin deficiency. Start them on Poly-Vi-Sol immediately and you should see results in a few days. There is a possibility it is something more serious but since they aren't showing any other signs right now, I'd vote vitamin deficiency. I never feed my baby chicks commercial feed only - I always supplement their diets. Again, feed them some meat - it's a chicken's natural food source and they need meat protein. Wet down some dry cat food if you have it.
