Help me sex this 8 month old silkie please

I’ve never seen them in person. I’m in NSW Australia. Not to say they don’t exist here, just that I’ve never seen them. They are part of the genetic makeup of Australorps though so one would think they’re here somewhere.
That’s a long ways from Nebraska USA 🤣. I sure hope you eventually find some. They are literally the best “pet” chicken. My rooster was like a dog and greeted my husband everyday when he got home from work. Jumped up into his arms. We had to rehome him to a chicken sanctuary when our town outlawed roosters 😢😢😢

That’s sad, I’m sorry you had to say goodbye to such a friendly guy.

We can’t have roos in town in NSW either, it’s only cos I’m on a small property I can have them.

It doesn’t make sense to me why you can’t have them if you have neighbours when you consider all the other noises going on around you at all hours of the day and night in town.

I can barely hear my two bantam boys even in the early hours and they’re only 20 metres from my bedroom window.

Aww, those are some beautiful chickens. Thank you for sharing. Your cockerel is much easier to tell apart from the pullets. Mine still has me stumped. At the end of the day though, I’m sure that by the end of winter I’ll know whether I have to plan for 3 roos instead of two. Thank goodness I have 4 acres to sort it out on.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, the pics above were the closest I could get so I went out and caught “her” for some closer ones. Front on, side showing earlobes and crest, size comparison with another roo and underside of leg (not sure that leg is helpful but anyway)

Thanks for the tag. Yes, most definitely a boy IMHO.😊
Hi LadiesAndJane. Thanks for responding to Lemon-Drop’s tag. It certainly looks like I’m going to have to set up another coop and get some more girls for these 3 lads. 2 girls and 3 boys... yikes! (Don’t worry, I’m not that cruel to keep them all together, the girls are only kept with the bantam roo. The silkies will need separating later though).
